Still Alive

I haven't had much to write about latley, but I'm making a quick post to let you guys know I'm still kickin'.
Lately, I've been almost every weekend in Finnsnes, visiting my folks and my sister.
Had a great time partying there and playing Guitar Hero/Rock Band at my sisters place on their awesome surround system.
I will try to upload some random Finnsnes pictures later today on my picasa account.

I've ditched Ubuntu for trying out Windows 7 on my workstation.
Ubuntu worked fine as a workstation and I did fix the problems I had, but I was starting to miss some tools I grown used to in Windows and for some reason my filesystem felt really slow at times.
Anyway, Win 7 exceeded my expectations, which were very low after Vista.
The RC version works really great. I have some minor driver problems, but nothing serious.

I'm going to finish by letting you know my summer vacation is coming up. Only three days left!

Great Loot

These are my two latest "investments".
I've wanted a descent digital system camera for a while now, so when I got the chance to buy a Canon 450D that just been unboxed for a ridiculously low price, I couldn't resist.
Haven't had the chance to take any cool pictures yet, but I'll upload them to my Flickr account when I do.

My second and (maybe) most awesome new gadget is the SF4 Tournament Edition Fighting Stick.

This arcade stick is extremely hard to find and I was just lucky to find one after they all got sold out.

It has Sanwa parts, which are considered the best hardware for arcade sticks/buttons and used on nearly every arcade machines throughout Japan.

I haven't tried enough arcade sticks to be able to give a fair review, but by those I've tried, this one is by far the best. Now I can't blame the controller if I'm losing in Street Fighter 4 :)

I added some pictures of the arcade stick here, even thou they won't do it justice.

Apartment tour fail

I've been thinking about buying my own apartment for a while now.
Yesterday I found one within my price range that looked pretty sweet so I decided to check it out.
I arrived at time for the tour, but couldn't see the estate agent anywhere.
After five minutes or so, I started to get a little impatient, so I went up to the building.
There were only two doors and one of them was not entirely closed, so I thought "ah, they have started without me" and opened it.
I was met by a girl sitting on the toilet with the bathroom door open. I said -Sorry, and tired to close it as fast as I could, but not fast enough and a small dog ran out.
I couldn't just stand there and watch it disappear so I had to run after and catch it. I was not sure about lifting the dog, so I just held around it and tried leading it to the door, thinking
that it might bite me and about what a good first impressing I much have made on my possibly new neighbor.
Luckily she just laughed about it and tried to help me find the estate agent, who had been running late and turned up only seconds later.
In the end I had a look at the place and it wasn't that great, so no harm done I guess...except my pride :/

Scott Pilgrim

I've heard and read so much good things about this comic book that I just had to check it out.
After reading the first two volumes, I could see what all the fuzz is about.
The hero of the story is the 24 year old, Scott Pilgrim, who plays in a rock band called "Sex Bob-Omb" (best name ever? :D) and is other than that pretty much a slacker.
He shares a small apartment with his gay roommate Wallace in Toronto and one day he falls in love with an American girl by the name of Ramona V. Flowers.
But in order to date her, he has to defeat her seven "evil ex-boyfriends" (like taken out of a video game).

It is drawn and written by Bryan Lee O'Malley.
The artwork of the comic is pretty simple, but at the same time very stylistic.
I think the comic is brilliant and had a blast reading it.
Had to check out the artist blog after reading the second volume and there I found out they are making a movie based on it, starring Michael Cera!
Looking forward to it, and reading the rest of the volumes. Recommended!

All good things..

Came back yesterday from one of (or if not) the best easter vacations ever.
I had a lot of fun. We were going snowboarding almost every day and we had a lot of great parties.
Wish the easter was a little bit longer, but oh well...
I've uploaded some photos to Picasa.

Easter holidays

Holidays are coming up and I'm going to Finnsnes on Thuesday after work.
The snowboard fever has hit us and a lot of my friends and relatives have bought boards, so I think this is going to be mighty fun.
I've also made a Posterous account. It's pretty smooth to be able to post pictures right from the iPhone.

Crack The Skye

My most anticipated album for this year has finally arrived. Got it in the mail yesterday and I've been listening to it a lot.
I should start by saying that Mastodon is one of my favorite bands, since about four years ago when I first discovery Leviathan, which blew me away.
The new album is quite different from anything they've done in the past.
At first I got a bit worried when I heard singing (instead of the roaring of an angry sea captain that Troy usually does), but by the end of the first song all worries were gone.
The new album is so awesome that I can't even find words to describe it.
I think some Mastodon fans aren't going to like it, but it's easily the album of the year for me.
Highly recommended! Buy it!
